Alena Sharp of Hamilton, ON punched her ticket to Paris 2024 alongside fellow Canadian Brooke Henderson after the final points were tallied at the conclusion of the KPMG Women's PGA Championship on Sunday 23 June. The two competed for Canada in the previous two Olympics at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.
PTL Golf head professional Pete Lockett began working with Sharp in 2023 where she made 14 cuts in as many starts on the Epson Tour, including five top-ten results and two victories. This return to form helped Sharp earn her way back onto the LPGA Tour where she's made three of four cuts so far this season and competed in her first major championship in three years at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship.
“Reaching the Olympics for a third time was a huge goal of mine coming into this year and I am extremely proud to have achieved it,” said Sharp. “Representing Canada is the highest honour I’ve had in my career.”
In her last appearance for Team Canada Sharp earned a bronze medal at the Santiago 2023 Pan America Games in Chile last Autumn. PTL Golf will be on hand in Paris as the competition gets underway on Wednesday 7 August at Le Golf National.
